Red Sox Rumors/Updates

Former A's outfielder Bobby Kielty, released last week, is likely to sign with the Red Sox in the next day or two. He has been speaking to several clubs, but Boston appears to have the inside track.

San Francisco Chronicle

Javier Lopez was optioned to Pawtucket to make room for Curt Schilling, who will make his long awaited return to the mound tonight.

Boston will be
without utility player Eric Hinske when it faces the Angels this week, as he tends to some personal business at home in Phoenix.

The Red Sox travel south to Anaheim to take on the Angels on Monday night. Schilling (6-4, 4.20 ERA) takes to the hill against right-hander Jered Weaver (7-5, 4.00 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 10:05 p.m. ET.

UPDATE: Brandon Moss has been called up from AAA Pawtucket to fill in for Eric Hinske while he takes time off for personal resons.
(12:58 PM)

Moss, who was drafted out of Loganville (Ga.) High in the eighth round of the 2002 draft, was hitting .290 with 13 home runs in 111 games with Triple-A Pawtucket.

Looks like the Boston v LAA series should feature quite a few nice match-ups on the pitching side.

I agree. Too bad Beckett and Lackey won't face off though.
