The Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League announced that they have sold the contract of second-baseman Junior Spivey to the Boston Red Sox. Spivey will report immediately to AAA Pawtucket of the International League.

An interesting thing to note, Spivey made the NL All-Star Team in 2002. He's 32 and could be a decent replacement in the case of some sort of devestating injury to either Pedroia, Cora or Lugo. He should stay in the minors though for now because at this point we really don't need him.
Spivey Career Stats
Red Sox signed OF Bobby Kielty to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Pawtucket.Kielty was released by the A's on August 1 and could join the Red Sox as a platoon partner for J.D. Drew after getting some at-bats in the minors.
